Allergan

In December 2002, ExonHit and Allergan launched a strategic alliance to discover drugs in the fields of ophthalmology, pain and neurodegenerative diseases.

Since its inception, the partnership has been extended 3 times in duration and expanded in scope. Our drug discovery activities are based on findings from ExonHit’s DATAS™ and SpliceArray™ technologies, from which both companies identify novel targets and generate new compounds for further development and commercialization by Allergan.

EHT/AGN 0001, the lead compound from the most advanced program in the collaboration, as well as EHT/AGN 0002 and its associated back-up compounds were out licensed by Allergan to Bristol-Myers Squibb in March 2010. ExonHit continues its collaboration with Allergan.

Other partnerships

While our primary focus is currently on finding a global partner to develop our lead product EHT 0202 for the  treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, we are also looking for partners to support a variety of small molecule programs. These are at earlier stages of development, ranging from lead identification to proof of concept in relevant animal models.

ExonHit is also keen to build partnerships around epitope discovery for the development of antibody therapeutics. ExonHit’s SpliceArray™ technology is ideally suited for rapidly identifying splice events that code for novel peptide sequences (or epitopes) and specifically those expressed in disease tissue that are appropriate for targeting with antibodies. Such epitopes offer the potential benefit of being both highly specific and unburdened by existing intellectual property rights.
